ANNA BOGHIGUIAN
Egypt/Canada
Born in Cairo, Egypt in 1946. She lives and works in the Universe. Boghiguian left Cairo in the 1970s and moved to Canada where she received her artistic training. She studied Art and Music at the Concordia University in Montreal and Political Science and Economics at the American University in Cairo.
She had several exhibitions in Montreal, Toronto, Sanaa (Yemen), Istanbul, Cairo, Berlin and Athens. She has also completed an artist book as well as illustrations that were published by the French editor Fata Morgana (Montpellier) as well as for the American University in Cairo.
She is also responsible for drawing the covers for Naguib Mahfouz’s novels and for her drawing and writing her own book of illustrations with text Anna’s Egypt.
Boghiguian has participated in several biennials, including Thessaloniki (2007), Istanbul (2009), and Sao Paulo and Cartagena (2014). She participated in Documenta 13, Kassel 2012 and in the show Here and Elsewhere at the New Museum, New York (2014).
She is represented by Sfeir–Semler gallery, Hamburg/Beirut.
